Benjamin Kay

‘Art is the Heart’ is a project initiated by Nottingham-based curator and cultural trailblazer Benjamin Kay. He is embarking on a groundbreaking journey to reimagine the city’s urban landscape through the power of public art. As the founder of Art Fest Nottingham, an annual visual arts festival that uses the city’s walls and spaces as its canvas, Benjamin Kay is committed to pushing the boundaries of our city through creativity, connection, and community.

With the support of Nottingham Roosevelt Memorial Travelling Scholarship, Benjamin Kay will tour some of the most iconic public art projects across the United States, from the vibrant Wynwood Walls of Miami to the monumental Great Wall of Los Angeles. The journey will serve as a unique opportunity to explore how visual art has transformed urban spaces worldwide, gathering insights and inspiration to bring back to Nottingham.

Benjamin Kay says “Art is more than paint on walls—it’s a powerful tool for storytelling, regeneration, and hope,” This trip will elevate Art Fest Nottingham into the Midlands’ premier visual arts festival. Stay tuned for updates as Benjamin Kay shares their experiences and visions for a brighter, bolder Nottingham!
