Keith Taylor was awarded the scholarship by telegram on 15 April 1959. At the time he was 27, married with two children and living in The Park in the middle of Nottingham. He sailed from Southampton on 6th August and arrived in New York on 11th August. Keith was employed by Sturmey-Archer and planned to see all he could of the organisation and operation of Raleigh Industries in the States. Keith travelled 17,300 miles by car and 1,000 miles by train in his four month adventure.
This well written book with a foreword by Haven Roosevelt (grandson of Franklin Roosevelt) is a journal of that adventure.
Copies of this 130 page book can be obtained via the Club secretary for £10 plus postage.
